This tournament didn’t go to plan.

There was an incident in our first leg of our first race of the day brought about by another dog. Dylan was unharmed (which I still can’t believe, I have to go and keep checking him over even now) and my mum badly dislocated a finger (too swollen to check for fractures at the moment although she has been referred to the Fracture Clinic at Huddersfield just in case).

Not sure how much I want to say, except to say how grateful we are to everyone at Extreme (especially Ryan, for ringing around the hospitals after the ambulance disappeared with mum, and Genna, for everything else), to everyone who came to Dylan’s aid, to everyone who spoke to us throughout the day (especially Julie, Leah and Mo), obviously to everyone at Owlers.

After we made sure he was physically ok, I continued to run Dylan for the rest of the day, because I didn’t want him to have a negative association with flyball. I don’t know how it will affect him with other dogs in general but he finds being around other/strange dogs very stressful anyway. We intend to take him to Dogs Unleashed with us as planned, but it’s currently on a play it by ear basis.

Kim was the one most obviously stressed and upset by the whole thing. She’s beginning to come around now but again, I don’t know how or even if she’ll run at Bakewell.
