BAA Promotion

As I may have mentioned (once or twice maybe!), I’ve been anxiously awaiting the end of year BAA League Tables to see how Kim and Dylan have fared.

I was always pretty confident that Kim would be promoted to Novice Jumping due to those 2nd places at the start of the year, and she has done easily, finishing 7th in the League (out of 307 dogs) with 450 points. I was a bit worried about her agility however, as she hasn’t had the top-10 places we needed. She’s ended up 34th (out of 256 dogs) with 138 points, which hasn’t got her into the automatic promotion bracket. She is does meet the requirement for applied promotion though, so I’m going to try for that. Our agility failing this year has been nothing to do with the actual agility equipment — Aframe, Dogwalk and Seesaw — we just either haven’t been successful on the course elsewhere or we haven’t been fast enough because the course has been too straightforward and there were lots of fast clears. She is good enough to get a 10th in Open Agility so I’m hoping that will count in her favour.

Kim finished 4th in the Primary Medium Dog of the Year league, with 588 points.

I really wanted Dylan to stay in Introductory for another year, mainly because he has to run in Grade 3 at Kennel Club and it would have been nice to keep him on some easier courses for a while. Plus I thought we could go for the Introductory Maxi Dog of the Year and just see what happened, but no such luck. He’s comfortably in the automatic promotion for Jumping, finishing 51st (out of 547) with 83 points; as an indication of how tight that top-50 is, just one more top-10 placing would have shoved him up to 30th. Happily he has finished =177th (out of 399) in the Agility league! He has just 15 points, but then again we’ve only had clear rounds, and one placing in Power and Speed.

Dylan finished 46th in the Introductory Maxi Dog of the Year league, with 98 points.

Mollie finished =145th in the Veterans League with 5 points. Go the Mol!
