Middlesbrough Flyball

6am, 11th May. Gorgeous morning!Look what a beautiful morning it was when we set off at 6am …

Should have known that wouldn’t last! Middlesbrough is now our first outdoor flyball competition of the season. This tournament is really well organised, has good racing, a nice venue, and yet every year I fail to find any enthusiasm for racing there. It always rains and the magic flyball spark is always missing, but I’m going to carry on going and hope that one day it’s sunny and we get our act together!

Kim kitted out for flyball (and watching it in the distance!)Dylan was thrilled to be back outdoors, and finally stepped up a gear. His boxturn was looking rather swish too as he’s snapping off the box beautifully. He could be a little higher in his turn but we’ll work on reinforcing that, and he didn’t slip up too badly. Speed speed speed just needed now, but we’ll get there! Kim ran with Marsh (who came 3rd in their division) and looked pretty good doing it, she’s back down to 5s times (5.05-ish). Really miss running her though!

I was boxloading for Mollie’s team who smashed their seedtime down to 20.87 and came 1st (not bad for 2 old ladies and a dog who was told she might not flyball again!)

Mollie picked up her Flyball Dog Advanced award (5000pts), and Dylan picked up his Flyball Dog Intermediate (1000pts). Mollie and Kim both need another 4/5000points for their next award, so it’ll be a while (if ever!) they pick up another, but Dylan needs just 2000 so hopefully he’ll get that this year.
