Doncaster Flyball (Indoor)

Well, talk about a busy day … we had 4 teams in at Doncaster. I was scribing for our first team in Div 1, Kim was running in the second team in Div 2 and Dylan and Mollie were in the third team in Div 3, and we were ring party in Div 4.

Kim ran so well for me all day, I can’t fault her. She has to work hard over 13″ jumps but she tries her hardest. I can tell she is slowing down a bit though, I have a feeling little Dylan is going to be swapping places with her some time in the future. I think their fastest time was 20.15, it felt like we could have taken that up a notch but we never quite got it together, but it was the first time that particular set of dogs had run together. It’s a waiting game now though to see what points go up from this tournament and from Sutton Fields, Kim just might have got enough points to get her Silver Award. She needs 544 more points, and I’m hoping that as this was a 7-team Division and she ran every leg, she’ll have enough.

Dylan ran brilliantly, he’s clicking on to racing now and is really focussing. Jane made a brilliant call when she said he’d make an anchor dog all those months ago because he’s proving her right! On one race he set off 2 jumps behind the other dog and pulled it back to a dead heat, what a clever lad! I do get the feeling though that at the moment, he’s only working as hard as he needs to, so it’ll be interesting to see him run against some faster dogs. Mollie always runs well, she plugs away and she has so much fun. She struggles with the 14″ full height jumps but we lost our height dog Bailey to Eagles for the day. Dylan loves running in the same team as her, he gets really wound up now and never shuts up! Night Owlers ran really well all day, they should have won but we made a total hash of one race, it was complete chaos and we scored NT’s on all legs. Oops!

We didn’t stay for presentations as mum and I were falling asleep on our feet, but we know Kim’s team finished 1st in their division, and Nights finished 2nd in theirs. Not too bad!
