Flyball Training & the Camera Saga continues

The camera thing is getting ridiculous. My mum has been the one interacting with Curry’s because she bought the camera originally (it was a gift). When she took the camera in, I gave her the camera in the original box with all the components — USB cable, charger, instruction booklet, warrenty, etc etc — because I wasn’t sure what they would need. They took the whole thing off her to try and charge the camera. She goes back to the shop after an hour and they say it has to be sent off (saying nothing about the box), so mum leaves after being promised that they’ll call in 2 weeks when it comes back in. Fast forward a month (they “forgot” to call), and when mum picks the camera up they only give her the camera shell and the battery. Mum and I have totally forgotten about the box by this point! Camera heads straight back to the shop after discovering what a scratched-up mess it is, without me even bothering to install the battery etc and switch on.

Finally get shiny new camera shell! Install battery and memory card and switch on. Low battery flashes. I go to charge camera up and suddenly realise I haven’t seen the box for a while, and ask mum. Recollection dawns … yep, they never returned the box. Several phone calls later, it turns out that the girl who originally took the camera off us has now “left” and they can’t find the box.

So I now have a shiny new camera but no way of charging it and therefore using it. So no flyball videos this week!

Kim had fun this morning running lead dog, she hasn’t done that since she did Crufts flyball! I think in her younger days she’d have made a fab lead dog, but it’s too much work for her (with false starts) these days. Plus I’m terrible on the lights, so she’d have even more work to do! Thankfully we mainly did a boxwork session for all the dogs, there were quite a few people missing so it wasn’t worth working on changeovers etc as none of the dogs were running with their regular teammates anyway.

Having said that, Dylan worked for a bit on his as we don’t want him to get too used to running anchor. Anchor dogs can get into a habit of running straight out of the lanes rather than veering to the(ir) right as all other changing dogs do, and then if they ever have to run anywhere but last it can cause crashes, loss of confidence and confusion. Dylan ran in between Lolly and George, and although he found Lolly terrifying and George pretty scary, he did well, we got some nice changes going on occasion! He also worked super hard on his box with the cone in and did some lovely turns, no lazy three-pawed turns, even though Katie wasn’t boxloading and he always does his best work for Katie.

Mollie was totally nutty, when she gets together with Bailey (or her “daughter” Lolly) it’s just like the Troublemakers Flyball Association of Crazy! They all wind each other up and it does have a nasty habit of degenerating into hilarious chaos, but thankfully they don’t do it in competitions and the other dogs just tend to sigh and put up with it in training. She worked hard though as she always does, probably a bit too hard as she looked a bit stiff in her shoulders after a kip when we got back, but we haven’t trained for a month so its not too surprising. She’s sound and happy now!
